Today, most security cameras send the data they collect to servers to be analysed. However, with edge-based AI, the data is analysed by the camera first and subsequently sent to the server.

This reduces the burden of transferring and storing large amounts of data to a server, thereby increasing efficiency, saving time, and reducing server costs typically required to analyse data.

The analytics can be configured to ignore video noise, waving trees, moving clouds and animals, all of which might normally be the cause of false alarms when standard motion detection technology or sensors are being used to detect activity. Classify Target Objects with attributes

Whilst all AI cameras differentiate what they see into broad categories such as ‘Person’, ‘Face’, ‘Vehicle’ and ‘license plate’, the Wisenet P Series AI algorithms are able to delve deeper, quickly and accurately identifying the different attributes of the objects within the camera’s field of view.

For example, the camera sees a person and immediately detects the colour of clothing. It is also intelligent enough to distinguish whether the person is wearing glasses or holding a bag.

These attributes are then saved as metadata alongside the captured footage.

Edge-based business intelligence

With business intelligence already built-in into the cameras, and the ability to detect, count and classify people from any angle, there is no longer a need to install additional cameras.

This provides an easy and cost-effective solution for people counting, queue management and heatmapping.

P series AI cameras also benefit from additional applications – namely occupancy monitoring, face mask detection, social distancing – which are not available as standard on the X series.

BestShot Feature

The BestShot feature ensures that only the most suitable images of classified objects are sent to the storage server. Each image can be up to cropped 4K quality, along with tagged attributes metadata.

Users have the option to set the image resolution at 2MP for full video streaming or use the BestShot feature to minimize bandwidth and storage requirements.

AI camera analytics are fully integrated into WAVE VMS, Milestone XProtect, Genetec Security center, as well as many other Video Management Systems via the Hanwha Vision AI Camera plug-in

AI capabilities (P series only)

WiseDetector, a machine-learning-based feature, expands the possible object types that can be detected by AI from the more limited set of pre-defined objects (usually people, vehicle and their attributes) to specific objects, such as high-visibility jackets, boxes on a shop floor, or traffic cones blocking a road. This gives security teams greater flexibility and control over what they train the AI model to detect, based on their unique business needs.

With Slip and Fall detection, the cameras use AI to detect people who fall and could be injured, automatically raising alerts to operators. This advances health and safety in warehouses, manufacturing sites, ports, and other logistics centres, enabling a quick response to accidents.

The MQTT protocol enables P Series cameras to work seamlessly with any number of other sensors in an installation. MQTT enables these cameras to connect with Internet of Things (IoT) devices, expanding the capabilities of the video system to business operations, smart cities, and more.

New Crowd and Vehicle Counting features support smarter cities by enabling the smooth flow of people and traffic. The cameras generate metadata that includes real-time people counting to manage potential crowds, for example at stadiums, based on specified timelines. Meanwhile, understanding the number of vehicles on roads and in parking areas can prove useful for city planners.

Simultaneous 2CH video streaming for digital auto-tracking

P series AI cameras support 2 channel streaming. Channel 1 can be used for full screen video display with channel 2 simultaneously streaming the digital PTZ auto tracking of an object (person or vehicle). Cropped imaged (channel 2) supports up to Full HD resolution(1080p).

AI Based enhanced image quality – WiseNRII & Prefer Shutter

AI plays a vital role in providing high image quality. WiseNRII is a new camera enhancement that uses AI to intelligently identify movement and reduces blur in noisy, low light environments. AI-based Preferred Shutter technology automatically adjusts the shutter speed based on classified objects in motion and the lighting conditions in a scene to reduce motion blur. This delivers clear images.

The cameras benefit from next-generation WiseStream III compression technology which minimises network bandwidth and data storage requirements. This applies a low compression rate to objects and people which are detected and tracked by AI, whilst applying high compression to the remaining field of view.
